Certification Plug-in Updates Released! I am pleased to announce that a new release of our exam item plug-ins is now live in the Prometric channel. These plug-ins (which run on exam delivery provider systems) are used by test centers worldwide to support the onscreen appearance and functionality of our traditional item types during certification exams – these plug-ins are called each time an item is displayed to a customer --- over 50 million times a year! Included in this release: • Support for IE8 – the plug-ins are now fully compatible with Internet Explorer 8 and were rolled out at IE Live+10 days! This completely avoids an issue with the old plug-ins that prevented simulation items from launching correctly.• Dual-core Processor Compatibility – an upgrade that allows our exams to run reliably on dual core processor without crashing - as more test centers update their hardware (to support our new virtual lab based scenarios for example), this fix has become critical to our business.• Event Logging - to enhance our troubleshooting capabilities, plug-in activity is now captured in an encrypted log file. When new issues appear, the logs will give us unprecedented visibility into client state, expecting to decrease our fix turnaround time by months.• Improved Efficiency – the code that has supported our item types for the last 10+ years has been freshly scrubbed to improve overall performance. The system supports concurrent navigation by over 30 users with no discernable impact. Starting this week, Prometric is pushing the new plug-ins to test centers worldwide – 1057 test centers have downloaded the updates so far. The plug-ins have also been released to the Chinese Ministry of Education, to support delivery of our exams in China. What can customers expect? Greater reliability from our rendering engines means fewer interruptions as candidates sit for their tests. The system can recover from most problems, but this often means restarting the exam or changing seats – not a welcome distraction when trying to concentrate. Featuring a cast of Thousands!This is the result of over four months of collaboration between teams at MSL, Prometric, Summit and WeLocalize, as well as support from many individuals along the way. The plug-ins were regression tested in 14 languages and on dozens of our existing exams. They also passed our UTD/IIT stress test with flying colors! Thank you to everyone who supported this rollout.
